  1. I guess you mean the WTO and the UN.

The World Trade organisation enforces on members some of it's standards (like you must not give special trade privelage to one member and not the rest etc) as part of their non-discrimination clause. They also set targets for tariff reductions.

They do this because free trade is good for everyone under the theory of comparative advantage.

In the real world there are a lot of political pressures to provide protectionism to farmers, and industries within a nation. In the end that's good for a nations farmers, but bad for a nations consumers and economy.

Should a nation be allowed to make it's own trade rules? they are allowed, it's just if you join the WTO and don't comply with the rules there are penalties. Is it always fair? Probably not.

The sovereignity of the nation is given up, in a way, by putting the country under a regime where it may be punished for violating rules. Since it voluntarily joined, i don't think it has actually given up soveriegnity because it has chosen to adopt these policies.

As for the UN - alot of their resolutions are contradictary and I don't think they do much good work.

I think that like people live under laws for the common good, nations should live under laws (and thus lose some of their sovereignity) for the common good. But if the UN wants to enforce this, they shouldn't make a million silly resolutions that no country follows. They should stick to the basics about human rights (ie no torture, right to trial etc) and just enforce that.

  2. In order for international trade to be "fair", the rich nations are expected to subsidize the poor nations.  What this does is to equalize all nations so that the poor nations are improved and the rich nations are subordinated.  It is in effect - global communism where all are made "equal".   But some (the WTO and big business) are "more equal than others".

  3. These are actually American and Israeli organizations controlled by them to further their interests. Whenever these will go against american and israeli interests, they will be quite buried.

  4. as far as the sovereignty issue is concerned states that enter international organizations do so understanding the issue. with international law, and int'l law institutions, individual countries are free to ratify treaties and make them binding, or non-binding which is essentially the same as not ratifying the treaty yet it gives them a limited amount of credibility
