Why does is seem like all celebrities give birth to twins?

Is is because most of them start their families at older ages? Or they are taking fertility drugs? Twins don't seem to be THAT common, but if you look at People magazine, it seems like a new Hollywood mom-to-be is expecting twins every week!

I would assume that most of their births involve fertility drugs, especially when you take into account how old most of the "new" moms are in Hollywood.  But I guess you can do anything when you have all the money in the world.

Even without fertility drugs, twins are more common when you are over 35, which many of the recent celebrities to have given birth to twins are (Julia Roberts, Patrick Dempsey's wife, Jennifer Lopez, etc.).  

And if you are over 35, you may have some difficulty conceiving, so it is possible that they were either prescribed Clomid or underwent IVF treatments, in which the doctor implanted more than one embryo (as is common practice, to increase the chances that at least one of them will take hold).

I suspect it is a combination of the two.

They are all having fertility treatments, or taking fertility drugs.

The chances of all of these middle-aged celebrities having twins just by chance is slim to none.

And it is not surprising they have the money for it.

I think its fertility drugss...part of me thinks that they dont even want babies and have them to get publicity and having twins, you get even more than if you were actually just having one baby.

Maybe they are doing the gender selection and being artificially inseminated so they get what they want?  I don't know for sure, but it would be a logical explanation.  I never really thought about what you are proposing, but now that you bring it up it does seem like a very high rate of twins are born to celebs.  Maybe there is something to it?
