  1. It shouldn't take very long.  If the Yahoo! Group Owner or Moderators are doing their jobs right, you should receive an approval within 24 hours.  Some groups that don't have a lot of activity might take longer, but I would email them after the 3rd day of waiting.

  2. owners have 14 days to approve pending members or posts. if it goes beyond that, good clue the group has a MIA owner.

  3. Depends on the group. Some groups are open. Just subscribe. The moderated ones, the owner/moderator gets a notification and has to approve or reject. It is completely up to the moderator.

Some groups are dead. The moderator pays no attention.

  4. I think it is probably down to the group owner or moderator. Not all owners regularly check their group for membership requests. It might be that the owner is away for example and has not appointed a moderator or co-moderator. It might also be because the e-mail message containing the request information has not got through for whatever reason, as e-mails can and do go astray....

If it is a particularly large group it might be that there are many new applicants and the owner has not had time to read and process all the applications. If there is also a problem of spam or other nuisance within the group this could also cause delays. This is a very non specific question, I don't think it can be generalized so easily because each group will have its own set of conditions which will affect the day to day running of the group. Hope this helps. David
