When filling my scooter I get to under half a tank and the pump click to say it's full.

It did this on my last scooter aswell. Do you raise it and fill it by eye?

  1. Other answers are dead right. I car has the tank further down and you place the fuel pump nozzle into a tube, so it's only when the tube fills up does the pump stop. You scooter doesn 't have a filler tube and the nozzle drops right into the tank.

The nozzle contains a small pipe that constantly sucks air from the end because it’s connected to a vacuum at the end of the hose.

When your petrol tank is full, and the nozzle is actually sitting in petrol rather than air, the pipe will suck this petrol through the pipe, rather than air, causing a drop in pressure that is detected by a valve, which shuts off the petrol supply.

So you'll need to place the nozzle just a couple of inches into the tank and you'll be fine.

  2. I agree with DanB dont put the nozzle too far into the tank.

  3. i think it clicks when the gas gets up past the end of the nozzle.  on a scooter, the nozzle can reach down more than half the tank, so thats as far as it will fill.  so yeah, just pull the nozzle out a little more.

  4. my boyf has the same problem on his is a little worse....he has an old truck that he complete re did

the nozzles at pumps have a cut off that wont let them pump beyond a certain point. at least u get to half a tank

he has a truck and it only puts in a dollar at a time lol

when the nozzle thinks it's at that point, it shuts off

try not putting the nozzle all the way in

  5. It's a cut off device fitted to the pump to prevent overfilling, try to avoid putting the nozzle too far into the tank.

  6. Yes raise it a little higher, cos the fuel is going back up the petrol pump which shuts it of for safety.
