Question:

Why does it feel as if my kitchen ceiling fan is creating hot air instead of cooling the room?

This is the hottest year we have ever had in Colorado. My other ceiling fans are doing their jobs but in the kitchen so hot even if I am not cooking. I even have the window cracked open, & the AC on that comes from the roof. I tried turning it off thinking maybe it was going backwards...I don't know. Is it time for a new fan?

  1. Since hot air rises, dont force it back down. Reverse the rotation of the blades (small switch on the side). You may get some relief from pulling the colder air up. Also check the top side of the blades. Fans in kitchens get dirtier than other rooms if you cook frequently. This disrupts the blades ability to do the job.

  2. Listen to Rob. And close the window. LOL.
