Why does it get bigger when I rub it?

I've got a quite large spot on my back which is really itchy, whenever I rub it (can't scratch-too painful) it swells!

this sounds like a bite and rubbing it spreads the poison and therefore makes it swell .the swelling should go down when you stop scratching ,get someone to put antihistamine cream on it and if this does not help see your doctor as it may be something else.......

a spider or other insects is bites. tell your doctor and have antibiotics as medicine or injection maybe...

sounds like a spider bite, you need to see a doctor if it is swelling and painful

Stop rubbing it and it will get smaller....if that does not work try a cold shower.
