Why does it give us the option to hide our IP's in a yahoo group?

and if any one select to opt they can not post or anything.

actually, you can post if you choose this option, only you cant from the e-mail that you're hiding- you can only post from off the group.

for many reasons this is a good option for certain types of groups, and just the same not a good option for other types of groups. it's also not reversible.

I agree it should not be visible to the members but just for moderator...but it is, the reason yahoo gives for it is to stop crime..and there is an option to hide your email address(IP) address if the polls section of the yahoo groups is shut down permanently...if you hide your email address(IP) address in a group that has no POLLS option, you will still be able to send and recieve messages..
