Why does it hurt so much to be hit in the solar plexus?

I've been doing mixed martial arts for about 12 years now and its never occured to me to find out why it hurts so much to be hit in the solar plexus?

does anybody have a biological answer for this?

  1. It's where the electrons are at there most active state. Any slight addition of energy to the area is felt intensely. It's a sensitive area, but feels like a whole ocean was hit.


  2. because ther is no armor there. and 90% of the time, you actually get hit in the diaphram. which knocks the wind out of you.

    you can build your chest and your abs and your arms...but you cant build up your solar plexus, your eyes, your groin, your armpits or your joints. they are just weak and vulnerable areas.

  3. Because a main artery is under it and there is more nerve endings there because if you didn't know you got cut or hit there you would die from internal and external blood loss if its the place im thinking of (you'd have to make sure lol)

  4. what corin b said.   and you have to train that area...12 years doesn't matter if your abs aren't trained. a six/eight pack doesn't mean ish if your abdomen isn't properly trained....start taking at least 10 shots to that area two weigh classes higher than yours and one less than yours
