Why does it keep happening this way?

Question

Whenever I look up to someone, I think they're funny, or they're just friends I'd like to have they don't treat me well. They treat me in really condescending ways until I've had enough of it and I no longer think highly of them. Once I no longer do, and especially when I don't respect them at all, that is when they start treating me kindly and I get their respect. Why does it always happen this way for me? Why can't they respect me and be nice when I respect them, too? This is confusing me so I'd please like your thoughts.

Stop worshipping people and see them as mortal beings that they are.  They treat you condescendingly because they're not as cool as originally thought or because you bring out that kind of response in people.  You should respect people for the good in them, not because you expect something in return.  Maybe you're trying too hard all around.  Be good, be nice, be who you are and you will attract some people who are decent and a lot who are not.

Sometimes if you place people on a pedastal (thinking they're much better than they are) they let it all go to their heads and think they can treat anyone like dirt! sorry this has happened to you, perhaps they think you are not being yourself around them and because you show them adoration alot, they see that as an excuse to take advantage?  I think you really need to ditch those people, even now that they're nice to you, as they treated you so bad to begin with - they sound like total jerks!

Perhaps you're just unlucky at the moment in finding real friends, the world is full of arrogant s***s I'm afraid :( To me, you sound like a lovely caring person who doesn't deserve to be treated that way! I'm sure you'll find other people who will look up to you, think you're funny instead - this time for all the right reasons!

its because if you dont care about what theyre doing or something

they want your attention back to them

so thats why they do that
