because it just does...... Man O' War and Secretariat were both the best race horses of their time and people just like to compare them.

Speed is just one thing race horses need. A novice at it will just say "get the fastest horse you can" but the jockey matters just as much because he/she positions the horse in the race. Also the horses personality is important because they decide if they want to run or not.
