Why does it say that I'm not connected to the internet when I am?

I using Windows Vista btw and exactly how do I fix this?

  1. I would ignore it. As long as you are connected who cares what the computer says?

    If it was the other way round, i.e. The computer says you are when you're not, then you would have a problem.

    Keep on surfing, who knows, you may be getting it free


  2. If you mean that you're computer is picking up a wireless connection but it won't open in internet explorer, then check this. First go to the Control Panel and click on Network Connections. In Network Connections, right click on Wireless Network Connection and go to Properties. Then scroll down where the items are until you see Internet Protocol and click on it. Then a pop-up will come up. Under where it says General, make sure it's checked where it says Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Then under Alternate Configuration, make sure Automatic private IP address is checked.

    If these weren't checked, then that was the problem why internet explorer wasn't working.

  3. You might not be able to connect to something else. Depends if you're using WAN or not.
