Why does it say unsecured next to w-lan network?

just done the internet connection on my new laptop and in the list of networks to connect to, it says unsecured. I usually connect to w-lan ap, coz its the best signal, i still connect but it says unsecured nxt to it.

why is that?

You have not entered your WEP code which is on the back of of your modem or you can find it on the software that came with it. Should be 10 to 11 characters in length. Enjoy secure surfing from now on. Oh, and by the way, use Kaspersky Lab on-line security.
