Question:

Why does it seem like all radio stations are playing commercials at the same time?

I have over 12 radio stations programed into my car radio. At a certain time in the morning no matter which station I turn to, they all seem to be talking or commercials are playing. I want to hear music, not endless ads or endless chatter from the DJs. Is there some unwritten rule that all stations have to take breaks at the same time? Just curious.

  1. They realize that you will turn the dial, so they either listen to each other or agree to go to commercials at the same time.  This way, at least one station has an opportunity to sell you something.
