Why does it seem like everyone wants to be a model?

Are we that vain now days that we just want people to look at us no matter what we look like? Half the people on here asking if they can be models are ordinary, nothing special about them. Seriously people, can't we look at ourselves and say "Yes, I am attractive but I don't need people to look at me 24/7 and gush over me" or how about getting a job that will benefit the community?

  1. Well, let me be the devil's advocate and tell you that not everyone that posts their picture on here asking if they could make it as a model are vain.  Maybe modeling might really be their passion, but yet they're insecure as to how to start modeling, so they post their picutre on here asking other's opinions, in hopes that maybe others might think they could make it as a model, you know?  And no, I'm not a model, so don't think I'm sticking up for the anorexic portraited models, but being a model doesn't mean you are a vain, or annorexic model, you know?  People style their hair, put on makeup, wear nice clothes, that to me is vain.  We look in the mirrors, that's vain.  Everything we do that's more than keeping hygene, is vain.  So, yes, I think everyone including me to a point is vain.  Also, I would like to add that being a model could be a job that benefits to the community, it just depends on whether the person allows their career to be a benefit or not.  I believe everyone can be a benefit to the community and their job doesn't define what one is able to do or not do.  Models can donate some of their profits to third world countries or any other organization or what not to help others.  They could also participate in Make-a- wish club, because lots of the little kids going through rough times sometimes wish to meet a model or be a model for that day.  Think how happy that little child would be if a model was to make his/her day, and for once maybe even forget that tomorrow they have kemo to go through, you know?  Sorry if I sound like I"m rambling or angry, but I'm not.  I just though I could give you some new perspective.  And you know what?  It doesn't matter if someone looks ordinary, it really matters what's on the inside, and even though it may be true they look nothing special, I don't think it's right either to point it out.  And so what if they don't really want to be a model and just want people to gush over them?  It's not our position to judge them, for I find that it becomes more easy to not understand and judge others than realizing that we might be just as susceptible to being misunderstood and judged by others.  Thus, it's an unforgiving, cycle of reality.  Who knows, one day, you might realize that your best friend posted a picture on Yahoo! answer and asked if he/she was beautiful, we never know when someday we may eat our words...trust me.  :)  Please don't be offended, but I really hope you see what I mean.  Peace out.  :)

I'm glad to hear that, and my answer to that question is that let them be.  There are many people in this world who like to feed their ego, or their self-esteem, and by keeping on feeding it through other people's compliments and acceptance, then there is no way that they could ever see themselves being unconfident and unloved.  I mean, I can speculate all day, but yeah, is that what you were trying to ask?  Because there is no exact reason why they do it, you know, I think it's case to case, if you get what I mean, which I think you do.  lol!  :)  Well, I'm glad to hear your model friend keeps on being a dork!  Yeah!  Power to the model dorks!  My best friend is a model and I tell her she's a dork, but in a loving and kind way of course.

  2. Because society portrays it as glamorous but they do not know the ugly and real side to it...
