Why does it seem like my Kitten isn't growing?

I have a four month old kitten Daisy. We got her off the street at about 2 weeks old and she was really sick. In fact when we took her to the Vet, he said she wouldn't live past three days because of a upper respiratory infection. She beat the odds with our extra love and care and her Vet said she's doing great! She's caught up on shots and everything. She has a normal appetite and eats two cans of food a day. However, I see other kittens about her age and they seem bigger, shes about 3 and 1/2 pounds, Is that normal for 4 months? My Vet says she fine.

  1. We rescued a little girl like that 8 years ago. She didn't seem like she would ever get bigger. But she turned out to be the most beautiful "lap-sized" Tuxie girl ever!

  2. My 8yr old cat only weighs 7 pounds. She is very healthy. Shes just smaller than my other cats. My vet says cats aren't supposed to weigh 15lbs.

  3. She probably didn't get the nutrition that she needed when she was a baby.  And it could have stunted her growth.  Do not just be feeding her wet food.  Cats need dry food for strong teeth and gums.  Most wet food is full of fillers, additives and sugar.  Put her on a premium brand dry food.  I occasionally, about once every 2 weeks or so, give my cats a can of unsalted, water canned tuna.
