Because someone told them they were special. Instead of being a coffee flunkie, they are baristas. Instead of realizing they are selling coffee, it's called fancy french names. French are stuck up a******s, why not carry it over to uppity coffee shops?

Most of the Starbucks employee where i live (Orange County) are college students,also because Starbucks wants them to have that kind of impression (accdg.to one of the employee) they also have a good salary and great benefits as compared to the high school students of Mac Donalds.
