Why does it seem that a lot of Teenage Christians girls get pregnant ?

There was a study done on this and as far as I can remember teenage girls that are religious are far more likely to fall pregnant during their teens.

Is this true? Can someone provide me with this stats?

I just saw that the soon to be Vice President of the U.S.A. Palin's 17 year old daughter is pregnant!

So much for Christian values.

They're less likely to use contraception.  And that whole scare tactic of saying fornication is a big sin doesn't work as a deterrent at all.

It's absolutely Christian values that causes this: utter dependency, blind obedience, heads filled with fear of the supernatural, and total ignorance. Without any thoughts in her pretty little head, that little girl is a victim to anyone who happens by and reminds her of her father by telling her what to do, by offering her a chance to escape her family, by preying on her complete vulnerability, naivety, and submission.

I don't have any statistics for you, but if it they aren't more likely, then I'm sure they are just AS likely to get pregnant. I'd guess some of it is lack of s*x education, and perhaps a desire to find a way out of a restrictive home environment. I've seen the latter happen several times; the girl thinks if she gets pregnant and goes to live with her boyfriend suddenly life will be better. Usually it's not.

It might be because their parents taught abstinence only and didn't want them to learn about birth control or making good choices.

Anecdotally, I was in on a conversation once in which several adult men remembered that when they were teenagers, the girls from the strictest churches were the easiest.

Practicing Teenage Christians pregnancy is low compare to NONE Teenage Christians.   No matter if Christian or not, teenage kids need to be taught Plan Parenthood in school since parents don't do the job that one is entitled to do.

Teenage kids that are promiscuous will always be promiscuous, so they should be given protection to practice safe s*x to prevent unwanted children

I have no idea about the statistics, but I do know why teenage Christian girls get pregnant: they breed. As far as I am aware, that's what most pregnant people have done.  

As for the people above me who said it was a lack of s*x education, I have to disagree; it seems that someone who gets pregnant knows a thing or two about how it happens.

It's because Abstinence Only Education is not the answer.

Look at the Netherlands, which has the lowest teen pregnancy rate in Europe, they teach s*x Education from the age of 4 onwards.

teens are normally rebellious... but when s*x is taboo, it is all to easy to rebel there, and without any knowledge (because it was a taboo subject) it's all to easy to get pregnant

another issue is the isolation of home schooling or christian schools...  if someone hits the real world when hormones are at there peak, without having learned how to deal with the outside world, it's a recipe for trouble

I was seeing a christian guy and out of one side of his mouth, he condemned me for not being spiritually strong enough & lack trust for God and out the other side of his mouth, he was smoking one cigarette after another ( I quit a long time ago) and he told me he was afraid to see a doctor.  I asked him why he was not trusting God like he told me to!

Lots of statistics are, to put it bluntly, bull.

But I could kind of see how this one could have some truth to it... Christians are told all their lives that premarital s*x is a terrible, evil thing, and it's one of the worst things you can do. Us teens are really good at testing limits, and maybe that's what these teens do. They want to experiment with what they've been told is evil, just to see. It's in teen nature.

I don't know the statistics, but I have a feeling you're right.

My theory is that all Christian teens are told to wait to have s*x until they're married, and because the Christian teens are told to wait they're not given any guidance about contraception and how to make sensible choices because their parents don't want to believe their daughters will have s*x.

This means that if they do experiment with s*x before marriage they're not prepared and have a higher possibility of becoming pregnant, but another thought is that Christian teens will marry young, i.e. in their teens, in order to have s*x without going against their parents 'no s*x before marriage' rules.

Of course there is also Bush's s*x education in schools to look at as he thinks abstinence is the answer - I wish his parents had abstained :)
