  1. i don't think that it's liberals vs. conservatives.  they are basically interchangeable.  just put 'moderate' in front, and they can zig-zag in any direction, with an excuse.  keep in mind: a.) republicans used to be liberal, democrats the opposite, historically and b.) people are spoon-fed, and despite having access (the internet) prefer being told what to believe.  alot of people, regardless of voting propensity.  i wouldn't- couldn't say it's a party thing.  people decide for themselves, search for answers on both sides if they're of slight intelligence, and form their opinions.  what do you think?

  2. I don't think it is just the liberals, if you look you will see both sides falling for Global Warming Hype. SCARES THE BLANK OUT OF ME

  3. It seems that way because of the polarizing nature of American politics. This is an issue that most everyone can believe in, but some religious folks always seem to reject scientific information merely because it does not conform to their belief system. And these people are the new conservatives.

"Old" conservatives, like Teddy Roosevelt and Barry Goldwater would be all over global warming. It would be "their" issue.

  4. Conservatives tend to be very selfish and not concerned about banding together to make things better.  That's not a criticsm, but true -- low tax rather than government solutions, my right to carry my gd gun is more important the laws that provide better protection, economic expansion over environmentalism.

  5. Liberals tend to live in the what could be.

Conservatives tend to live in the what is.

  6. it seems it is only some conservatives who don't believe - everyone else including liberals, moderates and many conservatives agree with the majority of experts

  7. It probably seems that way because you haven't asked conservatives.

Every Republican presidential nominee with any chance of winning (Giuliani, McCain, Romney, even Creationist Huckabee) has said that global warming is a problem caused by humans, and we need to do something about it.  Does that tell you something about conservatives?

If not, you could check with some others like Bush, Gingrich, Sarkozy (conservative French president) for starters.  Or just look at the polls which show that a majority of conservatives agree with the scientific consensus:

However, while it's not true that most conservatives don't believe in global warming, it is true that most global warming deniers are conservatives.  A better question would be to ask why that is.  Hint: the answer is not because they know something that the rest of the world (including scientific experts) don't know.
