Why does it seem to snow less and less every year in NY?

I know that Global Warming is one theory...any others?

global warming has screwed up the wind and sea current s so bad that weather everywere had become extremely unpredictable. hot air going over cold water and cold air going over hot water causes bad weather. also, the wind currents go in completely different directions than they did 50 years ago.

I think that global warming is a very serious issue.  People laugh at it as if it is nothing, but it is a serious thing.  

it may not happen for another 50 years, but why risk it?  We have to do something about it NOW before it is too late.  There has been talk that if we don't, but 2018 it could be too late, as the cycle will already start and won't be able to be stopped.

Global Warming is not something you can see from one year to the next, and is not something that will prove to be locally consistent.  Worldwide averages will be taken into account, but weather is too unpredictable (and there are too many cycles involved) for it to matter what a specific city dealt with for five or eight consecutive years.  Global Warming is much bigger than that, more complex than that, and is about climate change.  Your observations deal with weather change (short term), not climate change (long term--not a few years).

Hey, I live in Brooklyn, NY. Global warming is a false theory as we know it. The earth is going to start cooling in a few years.

remember about a week ago it was 5 degrees? 2 years ago it was extremely cold every day (besides some days during Janurary)

bottom line is, we are in a warming period therefore there is less snow, we are about to enter a cooling period, get ur coats!

how old are you....  because a difference you can see during your lifetime doesnt really mean much.  I bet you havent broken the record for the least amount of snow for a season yet.   Didnt new york have a huge blizzard this time a couple years ago.... the presidents day blizzard or something?

Global warming doesnt explain why there is less snow there, there is more snow everywhere else, which happens on a regular basis.  No one spot is "supposed" to recieve a set schedule of snow and rain fall, it doesnt work like that.

You're about a half degree colder than the historical average ... must be all those Chevy Blazers.

But we're supposed to be warming up. right?

Maybe we are just having a normal swing in climate such as the Earth has experienced since the planet first cooled.

You get taller as you grow....12 inches of snow would only reach your knee this year....last year it was mid-thigh.

Global warming is true... Even North countries get less snow. I live in Lithuania and my parents says that 30 years ago there had been much more snow about (4 feet) every year. Now we get 1 feet and it seems like WOW a lot of snow...

Because the 70's were considered a mini ice age! That is why. We have been warming back to within normals.

Plus it has been steadily warming since the last Ice Age. It has NOT however reached the average temperatures before the last Ice Age. Before the last Ice Age, Alaska was a Rain Forest. Not quite that warm yet.

In Ohio, too, it's scary. Milder and milder winters, and the last two summers have been our hottest ON RECORD. Yes it's global warming. What else would it be?

Air pollution- heats up the air and dirties it causing acid rain which factors in to warm up our air.
