Why does it smell like cheese when I cut my toenails?

Serious scientific answers please! Is it the same bacteria? If I put toenail cheese in milk, would it turn the milk into cheese? Why do people find toenail cheese disgusting but real cheese is delicious, when the smell is the same?!!
