If acceleration is just force divided by mass how can it take infinite energy to accelerate to the speed of light? (is it some sort of asymptote or what)?

  1. Because no object can travel at the SOL and beyond but can reach just before the speed of light but never the SOL

    SOL is time travelling

    Say an object could reach the speed of light the object would stretch into the future.

    Say it was a handheld cube the back of the cube would stay put but the front would speed off into the future ie infinity to the eye you wont ever find the front no matter how far you travel.

    Enegry = Mass

    Travelling at the speed of light makes infinitiy mass as I explained with the cube so that = infinity energy.

    Light is an electromagnetic wave. Light is an invisible wave which has infinity energy and its advantage is that it has no mass hence light is an invisible magnetic wave which shoots into the future.

    Tavelling at the speed of light need infinity mass or a wave so it can travel into the future which makes it need infinity energy

  2. exactly... i am pretty sure it is an asymptote... nothing(supposedly) can ever go faster then the speed of light (but i am working on a theory to disprove that and the whole cosmic speed limit thing) It is believed that once you hit 186,000 mps whatever matter becomes photons and anti matter is created as a by bi product... in order to accelerate to this speed you need to have a fuel that can produce the same amount of energy as the anti matter will put out in the end product... the energy you use has its own mass to be accounted for making your propellant the scale tipper for acceleration... its kinda like the absolute zero thing

  3. because travelling trhu the speed of light requires tremendous amount of energy,electromagnetism,is involve,if we can be able to relate the theory of relativity and electromagnetism,or get the relation between them then,travelling tru speed of light is possible,and yet,we can not able to maintain the speed of a machine w/c travelling  tru speed of coz,space contains particles and that particles can affect to the speed,example the air,so it is only means that we can only do this by creating a hole tru space,and that is the general problem,HOW CAN WE ABLE TO MAKE A  HOLE IN SPACE,

    actually,u can not able to create a machine that possesses infinte amount of energy,

  4. Instead of talking about accelleration... let's talk about energy...

    If you want your craft to increase velocity, you have to keep pumping energy into it.

    Now this is all ok at normal speeds... but if you get close to the speed of light... you enter into Relativistic Physics.  As you get close to light speed, a few weird things happen... one of which... the mass of your craft (and you.. ) starts to INCREASE!!!...

    This mass increase, makes it harder for your craft to accelerate...    The reason for this is.. some of the energy that goes into speeding your craft up, is now converted to mass on your craft.

    When you get very very close to 'c', your mass is also getting closer and closer to infinity.  So in the end.. all of the energy you apply to push your craft just converts to mass, rather than speeding your craft up.

    Hence....  you could never push any mass to the speed of light, let alone past it.  So mathematically, you're right... it's an ASYMPTOTE..
