Why does it take so long for my Honda Rebel to warm up even with the choke on?

I recently bought an '04 Honda Rebel 250 w/ 1500 miles it was inspected and serviced before I purchased her (she was only in the dealer for like 1 day before I bought her) and am having a problem with how long she takes to warm up. I live at the beach so it's 85-95 degrees here and I ride her about every other day but every time I go to ride her I have to have the choke on for a good 25-30 minutes before I can shut it all the way off without the bike stalling... the manual says choke should only be applied for like 3-5 minutes, does anyone know whats wrong with my Rebel or what I'm doing wrong with my Rebel?

  1. Does it shut off anytime after it warms up? I wonder if these bikes have an idle s***w that needs adjusting?  In any case it should still be under warranty so take it back.

  2. Sounds like it needs a tune up 25-30 minutes with the choke on is too long.

  3. yes, its starving (lean) for gas, a jet is clogged somehow. By now pipes would have turned blue but since you didnt say that , then it really is starving. have dealer clean it out

  4. OMG- you are killing your bike! Sorry, just kidding, but only sort of.

A choke is never on for more than a couple of minutes. You use it to get the bike started then start shutting it off.

Get that bike back to the dealership. She is running way too lean. You never, ever, EVER ride around with the choke pulled. Your bike needs servicing. She should still be under some kind of warranty. They should not be charging you for this service, either. Don't be surprised if they try - you're a girl. Dealerships often s***w with women. Took me four months of telling the guys my bike was running too rich for them to stop changing plugs (fixing the symptom) and actually fix the problem (poorly jetted). They only did that because I let them know that was my 18th bike in a long history of many bikes- so stop (something unlady-like) around with me.

  5. im going with the one guy it has something to do with gas flow...even if you was in a cold place it should be but a coulpe minute. check carb settings and fuel filter and air filter
