Why does it turn yellowy outside before a tornado comes?

  1. There are objects in thunderstorms, such as hail, that scatter red light the most, which mixes with scattered blue light from rain to appear as green or yellow. This does not always mean that there is going to be a tornado, but it can be a good indicator.


  2. I don't even know... but I saw it for the first time last week... and I honestly had a panic attack! I was on the highway with my friend &it was all I could see in the horizon and the weather was getting worse and worse. I told my friend that I had a bad feeling. I did a u-turn right in the middle of the highway.  I heard on the news the next day that a tornado had ripped through the direction in which I'd been heading. Had I kept going, I would have driven right into it.

    I'm sorry I don't have an answer... and I never knew it before... But that yellow light in the sky was soo horrific that evening... it looked like it came out of a horror movie.
