My cat is a almost 2, Shes been moving with me where ever i go... We moved to Florida in January and it didn't seem like we had any problems. She moved in with my boyfriend while I was in between houses,(march) and there was no problem, but the minute I moved in with him for 3 weeks she started peeing on his bed, it wasn't a big deal at first we just figured it was because her litter box was covered so we took the lid off, and we sanitized the memory foam and washed the sheets. I took her to the vet and they ran all her tests and nothing was wrong with her medically. Well we moved into our new house in April and all was well, We got a new bed, nothing bad happened, and just in the past week shes back to peeing on the bed, and the rug that we have in front of our shower. I cant figure out why she would be doing this... we have 3 litter boxes, two big ones and a smaller one for an extra, and they are always clean, we have another cat (we got for her anxiety issues, which worked) and hes fine no problems... I have no idea what to do. I'm expecting a baby and cant be cleaning this up all the time... Whats wrong with her? What are we doing wrong? What can we do to fix this... I'm afraid I'm going to have to put her down... :(

Shes used to my boyfriend and I sleeping together, weve all been living together for 5 months(in the new house)... my boyfriend is not the issue. she goes to him for attention just as much as me if not more but its always on his side of the bed. And weve even caught her doing it. With a baby on the way we cant put up with this for much longer. We have her secluded in the bathroom now with 2 litter boxes, the papertowels that i used to clean up the mess, her bed, and her food and water. Shes going to have to stay in there until we can find a way to solve this problem. Any input would be wonderful...

  1. There could be lots of reasons but I found this article that may be able to help you!

  2. The cat is being territorial unfortunately there is no way to stop this. It's not adjusted to the new living space and another cat.

  3. You are just going to have to keep her out of your bedroom.  Is she spayed? If not, get her spayed 'cause I know a lot of unspayed female kitties do this.  My female cat did the same exact thing though and she was spayed.  She never stopped and I just had to keep her out of my bedroom.  I think it's their way of marking their territory especially if you just moved!  DO NOT put her down!  That'd be terrible!   I'd rather you take her out to the country and drop her off by a creek or river with a lot of trees for shelter.  That's much more humane.  Cats are pretty good at adapting to the wild.  Putting an animal asleep because it has a bad habit is MURDER!

  4. I've had the same problem. Is she spayed? She may just be marking her territory. For a little while keep her in one room of the house, with a litter box, and see what she does. If she pees, anywhere but her litter box, scold her with a "NO!", don't scream at the top of your lungs, you'll just scare her. Just leave her there for a few days and see how she reacts. Hopefully this works, it worked for mine.

  5. Cats pee outside the litter box when they have urinary tract infections.

Take her to the vet. The antibiotics to cure her are less than $30.00.

  6. It's unfair to put your cat down for that reason, perhaps it is something to do with smell? i.e washing powder or pillow spray? perhaps she feels neglected? cats pee on things for attention, if you think that's not the case, and she has to go because you're pregnant, be kind and have her rehomed, perhaps someone else can reform her it's only fair to give her a chance, it's only ethical.

  7. You're moving her around too much. Cats don't like change. She's trying to tell you this is her home and this is where she wants to stay. She's feeling insecure right now. She doesn't know where she'll end up next.  Be patient with her, but if it continues you'll have a big decision to make. I had a male cat that wanted to own me. He pooped on anything of the other cat's and on my husbands things. I had to give him up.

  8. Please don't put your kitty to sleep if you have to, surrender her to the shelter. My opinion is that all the changes have been accumulating, you know "the last straw broke the camel's back" sort of thing. I know I say this a lot but get some Feli-way pheromone spray and use Cat Attract litter in her boxes. Ask you vet for other medications that might help her. Give her some extra grooming and play time too. Please don't put her down, she is a member of your family.
