  1. I'm still waiting for proof of all this alleged extra horsepower, haven't seen it..

  2. First of all, that's just heresy people are making up to detract from his talent, when as of yet, no one has proven it.

Second off, no it's not illegal. If Toyota indeed did have a horsepower advantage, it's within the guidelines NASCAR creates for the engine builders. I think it just comes down to working harder than the competition.

Oh yeah, and the last two rounds of engine dyno testing performed by NASCAR on 10 different Cup motors (Chevy, Ford, Dodge, and Toyota) showed that they were all within 7-9 HP with one another. The Dodges were right with the Toyotas. SpeedTV talked to Ray Evernham and several other crew chiefs that confirmed this.

About a month ago, the Toyotas in the Nationwide did show about a 20-25 horsepower advantage at the crank over the other Nationwide Chevy's and Fords. The Dodges were right with the Toyotas again. Just 2-3 weeks ago NASCAR changed the restrictor plate that is now run in every race in the Nationwide series. They allowed the Chevy's and Fords a slightly larger throttle bore (opening) in their Nationwide restrictor plates. Subsequent engine dyno tests in just the last week or so have already shown that all of the Nationwide motors are now within 7-9 HP of each other just like the Cup motors. I think the 7-9 HP range seems to be an interim NASCAR acceptable difference. If Toyota really had such an advantage, you can bet that the team owners would be knocking on NASCARs doors trying to get them to fix it, but instead it's mostly fans with nothing better to do than complain about a non-existant issue.

And for you conspiracy theorists, if you believe NASCAR is really letting Toyota have extra horsepower, why are you still watching?

  3. No advantage! He is just that good! If you want them to all be the same go watch old IROC races... We all saw how well that series went over!

  4. Because he cheats!

  5. I agree with bestansv. Very well stated. You should win this one!

  6. Kyle Busch has talent, plus his trainging in the C.O.T at HMS as well as JGR found 30-50 more hp in the engian from last season to this season.

  7. In the words of Tony Stewart: "It's fixed"

  8. The cars have been dynoed....no appreciable advantage.

  9. Toyota and JGR have just studied a little more than the rest.

  10. All these questions about horse power. In a series where Nascar has done all it can to make this look like a 43 cars IROC series... In the name a parody and safety. No doubt these cars can take a beating and are safer than the older ones but how do we really know that. They are slower.

Old school was running what you brung. In 1985 The Elliotts brought to the track a Thunderbird that met all rules of the day. They found through better suspension and intense engine work that they out classed the field in handling and surely speed/hp. Setting a record that to this day has never been broken. All the other manifacturers were going crazy trying to match this teams performance. RYR built cars the following year just as fast. RCR followed suit as did Junior Johnson and Petty Enterprizes. Through the help of Nascar and rule changes parody was close again until someone spent more time and money and got the upper hand. More rules.... more development... and on and on.

Last year HMS had em covered and Toyota sucked, or sand bagged. This year they got it going on. Next year it might be dodge or ford. Nascar will try and slow them down and they will spend more money and time and speed up and the games will continue. Those that have it will be happy, those that don't won't

Like Ferrari in F1, the manifacturers trophy is toyotas to loose and they are riding on Kyles shirt tails to do it. Youth tallent and high priced research and development and teamwork has paid off big time. JGR has found something just like others in the past and still others will in the future and Nascar will do whatever they have to to try and make them equal.

  11. Teams are allowed to work on their engines in their shops, only things like approved heads 11:1 compression and carbs are really regulated by NASCAR.  As long as you are 358ci, using their approved heads and 11:1 compression you are basically legal.  You have to leave rockers, cam grinds, rod legnths, and crank strokes up to each team, or you don't have a need for engineers to build engines, you could just have LEGO cars and push them around the track making noises with your lips...

I know I know, you wish your Chevy or Dodge or Ford to be in the lead sometime.  Poor you...  It is called WORK, working on the engine finding every trick and trigger to make just 1 more horsepower to gain a slight advantage...

  12. He snuck away some of that Q Synthetic when he left Hendrick Motorsports!

  13. it's not just kyle it is all the toyotas.

  14. if all cars should be the same nascar should build them all and let drivers sign them out at race tracks. the whole point in diff teams and manufacturers is a key part of the competition. the guys who spend less time asleep reap benefits. this year the toyota folk and especially JGR are one up. no doubt.

  15. No, the cars shouldn't all be the same. This aint no stupid video game. This is  real deal racing.
