Is there something to do with chlorine in the pool? Gymnast have them, but swimmers? Would it look good on them too?

  1. Body hair creates a tiny bit of drag.  This doesn't matter at anything less than olympic-level competition, but it does slow a swimmer down by a few microseconds.  Male swimmers wear those skintight panties for the same reason.  Flapping shorts-legs create a lot of drag.

  2. only really competitive swimmers shave because it slows them by a small amount such as the one 1/100th of a second Phelps won by

  3. it slows them down if they do. and they shave their legs, chest and anything else hairy too.

  4. It's because hair slows them down and they want to go as fast as possible.

  5. Male swimmers don't have armpit hair or chest hair or back hair because when they have no hair they have less friction against the water and are able to go faster. that is the sam reason why they have super-tight suits and they wear swim caps.

  6. Phelps won by 1/100th of a second.  they do anything they can to gain any advantage they can.  Shaving helps.
