  1. Because true altruism doesn't exist in the animal kingdom.


  2. because the first instinct is to survive, and most people are selfish.

  3. see ants they work for each other and for themselves but we now have developed a lot of things and are bound to a lot of commitments and a lot of more things to do. and for mankind why would you work for some one who you dont know and why to have fun on others work do urself have fun urself

  4. i'd have to strongly disagree with you on that - there are many people who dedicate their livelihood for another's cause; you just don't aknowledge that.

    When I was younger I was very concerned about mankind.  After being crushed by the world and stepped on so much, I now only care about me and my family.  This world is only about surviving.

  6. Because a man can insure only his genes are replicated if he is reproductively successful, not anyone else. Only when he is competitive reproductively by cooperating can a man have something left over for mankind.

  7. A man must survive first, then ensure the survival of his family, then his village, then his tribe. If there is anything left over, then he can worry about the whole of mankind.

    If there is the opportunity to serve the whole of humanity while providing for for immediate needs, a man is lucky indeed.

  11. Define 'mankind'? If it includes the entireity of homo sapiens, then there are considerable elements of mankind that I would not want to work for under any circumstances!

    We are not evolved to really think outside of the tribal box.
