Why does mexico city has mostly red roof tops?

Red, actually terracota, is the usual color of the sealant paint  used on the concrete roofs in Mexico. There are white and black sealants also, but red is probably prefered because it is closer to the color of the terracota roof tiles that used to be the norm.
