Even if you buy it from the supermarket and keep it properly refrigerated, it goes off as you get half way down the container. It seems to happen every August.

  1. never noticed. I buy a jug of semi skimmed milk and it lasts the whole week.

  2. have you also noticed that it gets kinda cold around christmas time?

  3. Mad though it may sound, it has to do with atmospheric pressure. We`ve had a few thunderstorms recently. I remember many years ago on BBC`s Horizon programme they did a whole programme testing whether there was any scientific basis to "Old Wives` Tales" - I believe tjhe episode may even have been titled "Thunder Makes The Milk Go Sour".

Anyway they tested a whole lot of these old sayings and one which was definitely proven was that - especially in summer - when you have thundery weather milk really does turn sour quicker.

  4. It is because the hotter time in the year te more the milk curds quicker.

  5. just temperature   .. Buy smaller containers more frequently.  ,, I never buy more than 2 pint ones,

  6. Because its hotter this time of the year and the milk curdles.

  7. Because the rate of the reaction that occurs is higher at the higher temperatures.

  8. Perhaps it's getting to hot, if your living in the northern hemisphere, it must be summer, so maybe the milk gets to hot before coming home.

Or, if it's hot and your using your air con, it could be making your refrigerator loose power.

Also check that the fridge temperature is OK. Buy a thermometer and stick it in the fridge.

Really, there is no reason why the milk should be going off. Probably because it's summer. But if it's winter, or it's reasonably cold, then I have no idea why.
