When my youngest of three children was 2 yrs old he didn't need a nappy day or night. After starting school a year later he starts to pee and pooh in his pants. Now he is 5yrs and he still poohs in his pants during the day and pees at night.

Since starting school we have moved country where now my son seems much happier in all aspects of life.

Please can any one help to explain why such sweet charismatic child should have such a problem.

  1. Please dont make him feel bad.

    Here is my personal experience.

My son was fine with potty training....then all the sudden he stopped going on the potty. He would run and find a pull -up which I had in the house for nighttimes (he wet the bed)...he would only go #2 in a pull up. It took me nearly a YEAR to realize, he would ALWAYS be either standing up to go or laying on the floor (anotherwards...in an upright position, not sitting).

Come to find out he had Sensory integration dsyfunction and the "sitting" action hurt him, or was the problem.

Therapy and understanding resolved this. It took time...and it is hard to have such an older child go through it..but it ll worked out!

  2. Could this be a medical illness? my 7 year old does the same and the doctors have said that there is a medical problem there but they are still doing tests to find out what it is. Go to your doctor and ask his advice. Good luck. xx

  3. well I did that when I was that age And my mom told me that I did it because I  just started school And I want to go back home with my mom, And they told me that if I kept doing that they wouldn't let me in to 1st grade so I kept on doing it. I don't know why I am telling you this I don't know you and It probably isn't the problem. sorry. no help.=(. Maybe you should check with your doctor to it could be physical.

  4. It could be a side effect of another underlying problem. Take him to the Dr. first to rule out any physical problems and then to a child psychologist to check why he is doing it. Also, just ask him kindly. No accusations.

  5. Maybe it's all of the changes in his life right now, and hope that it's just because of that and nothing medical is going on.
