Engine cooling fins under the blower housing could be plugged up with grass and crud and not allowing the engine to cool?

Many things can cause the engine to die.  In my experience, heat really affects the engine.  What's your brand/model?

I had a similar problem with mine.  The auto choke wasn't working right.  Once it was running for awhile it was ok unless I turned it off, then it wouldn't start again until i let it cool down for about 45 minutes.

could be a faulty coil, or even a plugged gas cap. there should be a vent hole in the gas cap, and if it gets plugged, it acts like you run out of gas. good luck.

After 1 Hour?

I'd suspect vapor lock, and on a mower, I'd suspect poor

cooling due to a build-up of clippings/dust on the engine

or carb body.

Give it a thorough cleaning with special attention to all cooling fins

etc.
