  1. No it does not have anything to do with being smart.  I used to wet my pants at night for longer than 8.  At 8 I even still wet my pants during the day sometimes when I was a kid.  My mother used to get me up in the night and take me to the bathroom but it did not work.  I would still pee in my pants.  I was always wet in the morning.  Finally she ended up putting a diaper on me when she took me to the bathroom because nothing would work.  I remember the first time waking up in a diaper and feeling a little like a baby.  But I was really glad not to sleep in a wet bed.  Some kids pee their pants and nothing seems to work.  I stopped peeing my pants during the day and a couple of years later stopped peeing  every night.   I think some kids just do it and it and there is nothing you can do about it.  You can try taking him to the bathroom at night.  If that does not work then they now have bedwetting pants for kids that do not look like diapers.

  2. its like this i have the same problem with my little girl

at night they have to go to the bathroom and

they are dreaming it and they re dreaming they are going to the bathroom and piiing but they are really piiing on the bed just wake him up to pi every night in the middle of the night  and

    you will be fin

  3. take him to a urologist. it may be a problem that he cannot control

  4. lol smarts has nothing to do with wetting the bed. He might not be waking up when he has the urge to pee. I would suggest not giving him any fluids a couple hours before bedtime.

  5. Try to not let them drink before bed that is what happened to my daughter! I hope this Helps!

  6. His bladder may be a bit immature still (not an insult by any means).  It just means that his bladder has not fully developed and he has an issue with feeling that he has to go when he's sleeping.  Try the other responder's suggestion and get him GoodNights.  They look like underwear so he won't feel embarrassed but they are absorbant so he'll wake up dry.  His bed wetting is not due to him being smart.  He'll be okay and eventually will grow out of it.  Good Luck!

  7. he has a bed wetting problem .. it has nothing to do with his level of intelligence , why not buy him goodnights ... they are said to look just like underwear.

  8. Damp....

Could be light release of urine.

    Could be sweat.

Also could be a small amount of ejaculation.

Being smart has nothing to do with weather someone has a wetting issue.

  9. you might want to take into consideration that the cold weather and other problems such as been scare of something can have something to do with this too make sure he always goes to the bathroom before bed and please do try to find out if he has something to be afraid of some times we don't take the time to find out what's happening with our kids and he may be embarrassed to tell you.

  10. it's not in his brain, it's in his bladder.

Don't let him drink before going to bed and to be sure he makes his bladder gladder before bed ;)

  11. My son had the same at 8.  He used to say he'd wet the bed but his pyjama bottoms were just a little damp.  I told him he hadn't, ignored the problem and it went after a few months.  I think if I'd let him think he had a problem it would have lasted for longer.

  12. We are having this same problem with my 6 year old son. We have taken our son to the doctor to have some behavioral tests done and make sure there is nothing wrong in that way, and they reassured us it was nothing like that.  We also have an appointment in May with the urologist to rule anything else out.

They told us that he is a very deep sleeper and that we would have to go in and wake him up in the night and take him to the bathroom.  Another thing that was suggested to us was not to give fluids 2 hours before going to bed..

We  had a baby in April last year and we are thinking that may have some reasoning in this situation. I'd say if you haven't already done this try sitting down with your son and talking to him, ask specific questions and tell him you are there to listen, also another thing we have found is don't yell or criticize them for it makes the situation worse

Good luck and hope this helps.

  13. Parents usually think their kids are smarter than they usually are.

  14. Bed-wetting or enuresis occurs when the bladder is not mature enough, or small bladder. It can be caused by stress, a psychological problem or hereditary. More in boys than girls. I suggest you buy some Goodnite diapers.

Enuresis can be a physical problem that must be checked out with a pediatric uroligist.

Petroleum-based additives can produce physical effects, and have been found to trigger many problems, including headaches, hives, bedwetting, asthma, and ear infections.

The most important thing to remember is that no one wets the bed on purpose. It doesn't mean that you're lazy or a slob. It's something you can't help doing. For some reason, kids who wet the bed are not able to feel that their bladders are full and don't wake up to pee in the toilet. Sometimes a kid who wets the bed will have a realistic dream that he or she is in the bathroom peeing - only to wake up later and discover he or she is all wet.

Many kids who wet the bed are very deep sleepers. Do your parents complain that it's hard to wake you up? Could you sleep through a marching band parading outside your bedroom door? Or a pack of dogs howling at the moon? Trying to wake up someone who wets the bed is often like trying to wake a log - they just stay asleep.

Some kids who wet the bed do it every single night. Others wet some nights and are dry on others. A lot of kids say that they seem to be drier when they sleep at a friend's or a relative's house. That's because kids who are anxious about wetting the bed may not sleep much or only very lightly. So the brain may be thinking, "Hey, you! Don't wet someone else's bed!" This can help you stay dry even if you're not aware of it.

    Good News

The good news is that almost all kids who wet the bed eventually stop. So if you wet every night, don't be discouraged. And don't worry that you're not normal, either physically or emotionally. Sleep wetting is not usually caused by a problem with your body or your feelings.

It's likely that bedwetting will go away on its own. In fact, 15 out of 100 kids who wet the bed will stop every year without any treatment at all. But if you have this problem it's still a good idea for you and your parents to talk to your doctor about it.   http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/health_pro...

  15. My son had this problem also.  I didn't think it was right to keep him from drinking especially when he was active and thirsty.  Here is what I did...  I bought Goodnights.  When he drank a lot after dinner, I always made sure to carry him (yes he was heavy) to the bathroom and urinated before I went to bed - usually 2 to 3 hours after he went to bed.  He never remembered me taking him.  I made sure that the very last thing he did before going to bed was go to the bathroom.  Most importantly, I made sure that he understood that there was nothing that he was doing wrong.  He is a very heavy sleeper and the urge to urinate did not wake him up.  The goodnights and trips to the bathroom really helped.  He eventually outgrew the problem when his bladder was able to hold his urine all night.

Hang in there and don't let it be a big deal :)

  16. If he is having problems keeping dry during the night... I don't understand how this would relate to whether he is smart or not.  ALOT of kids have this same problem, sometimes even as old as 11 and 12!  All you can do is be supportive, as I am sure he is embarrassed when it happens.  And do NOT let him think he is not smart!

Perhaps a pediatrician can give additional tips on what may have helped other children his age.
