Why does my BFs dad work him so hard?

My boyfriend's dad has a tile business, and he makes my BF work for him from 530 AM to whenever they finish which is always around 4-6 PM. Monday- Friday. They work in Louisiana heat rain or shine. My bf hasn't really had fun this whole summer because of his dad. On the weekends, he always makes my BF do things around the house, weather it be cut the grass, work in his dads other business, etc. etc. etc.

This weekend is his last weekend of summer and his dad is working him ALL DAY today, and ALL DAY tomorrow. they are putting new wood floors in his brothers house, and new cabinets. Im having a party tonight, and he wont be able to come because he has to work. I hardly get to see my BF of 2 years because of his FREAKING DAD. why does his dad work him so much. my bf is 18 this month, and when he comes over to my house, they make him leave at 9 or 10 to go home since he has work the next day. on the weekends they make him come home at 1030 bc they dont want to stay up and wait for him.

i THINK THEY NEED TO LET HIM LIVE! what do you think?

btw hes working right now from 530/ probly till 9 at his stupid spoiled brothers house.

maybe his parents feel you to are getting too serious. maybe you should sit down with them as a couple and explain to them the lack of a social life you have at 18 and that you both feel you both should have time to hang out with friends. then again maybe they are just teaching him responsibility as he will be leaving for college and needs to earn some money this summer to have to spend while away. if you can not handle being seperated for work you will never make it in life the real world and success often requires long hours and hard work. good luck
