  1. I dont know how long youve had your modem/router plugged in. But if you disconnect the adsl connection and shutdown the device for approx 15 mins you will prob notice a pick up in speed. There could be several considerations. What is your contention rate (amonut of people connecting on same line as you (domestic is normally 50:1)). Whenever my link slows down , then i do the above. Have you ran any broadband speed test software. This is the first thing BT will ask you to do, or try one of the free ones available. I found out i was getting 4 Mb download when should have been 8, complained and 48 hrs later all sorted. hope this helps

  2. I used to have bt broadband, and the same thing was happening to me, all the time but i just stopped paying the bill and went to virgin, and have no problem.

  3. Sorry but i was with BT for nearly 2yrs and paid them off in the end they drove me up the wall and got me so mad from the bill to the tech guys and charging me extra all the time but not telling me got rid of them they are rubbish i went with tiscali and ive had no probs for over a year now,and for the same price as BT i get free fone calls 24 hrs seven days a week wireless broedband fast too,and the tiscali box wich is half digital and half sky so many channels 24.99 a month 19.99 for the first 6 mnths

  4. Because BT's system and network was designed in the 1930's when it was The Post Office for a basic telephone service for the UK and they are still running it like it.

They don't want to spend the £30 billion it would cost to upgrade the whole system so they spend most of their time just tinkering with it!

They caught a cold when Virgin was originally Telecential back in 1993/4 were laying in fibre optic cabling. BTs reaction at the time was it will never take off. Well they certainly got caught with their knickers down there then!

And because of that BT are now trying to muscle in on Virgin's network saying it's unfair competition because their own system is useless.

  5. Apparently your speed with BT depends on how far away you are from the exchange, perhaps that's the problem that is why I am with Virgin because it is fibre optic cable so it stays the same strength wherever you are, BT are updating but it will take a few years to do the whole country

  6. I have SKY broadband and thats slow at times
