Why does my Budgie keep making these crunching sounds?

He just sits on his perch and makes these sounds.

It sounds like he eating, like crunching a seed, but he not eating anything!

Should I be concerned? Or is he just annoyed by something?

Or is he showing affection?

no you should not be concerned your budgie is simply trimming its beak my budgies do it all the time so no worries

he is just telling you that he is happy and comfortable, thats good though, he isnt scared of you being near him and he is calm. it might be a good idea to try and hand tame him will he is comfortable with you around, check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/how_to_tame... for a good article on handtaming
