Question:

Why does my Citroen C2 not start anymore?

Hi,

I have a citroen C2, which had some water damage but was starting and driving perfectly. I have open the fuse box to clean any water from this and also unplugged the ECU unit to clean this and plugged it back in. Since putting it back together it does not start at all and does not click over too. Can someone please help?

Someone has suggested that when I unplugged the ECU, it has disabled to security so the car needs to go back to the dealers for re-programming. Please can anyone confirm if this is true?

Many Thanks

  1. It could be that because you unplugged the ECU it has booted and lost all data.

Try unplugging everything you unplugged and spraying the connections with WD40. This will expel any water that may have got into the connectors when you took them apart.

If that doesn't work, re-program the ECU. There are loads of independent garages that can do this cheaper than a main dealer.

  2. now the corrosion sets in...every terminal that got wet is now covered in iron oxide and connections are being lost..they need cleaned,[with scotch brite],wd40'd and put back together...removing the ecu DOES NOT interfere with the immobiliser unit
