I have a Core2 Duo and 2 GB RAM laptop from Gateway and I've had it for only 7 months. I use it for heavy development, but it still lags like crazy, even when I have 3 programs open. My old 1 GB RAM desktop was faster than this. It takes 6-7 seconds just to load Microsoft Word.
I've done a full virus scan and came up nothing. I've also done trojan, spyware, malware, and keylogger scans with 3-4 different scanners and they all came up nothing. I even defragmented my drives and did disk cleanup.
My laptop is still slow as h**l, especially for a Core2Duo running on 2GB of ram. I'm also running Vista and has an additional 4GB flash drive plugged in using ReadyBoost.
I don't get it. When I go to a public library, for example, their computers all load programs in a flash and I can have 8 browser windows open and it's still fast...their computers are nowhere near high-end as my laptop and yet they load programs in a jippy.
How do they do it?
