Why does my Counter strike source fps drops lower and lower as I play.?

Question

I dont know why but when i play my fps starts out at around 100 and 5 minutes into game its in the low 20s. Any ideas or solutions?

Comp specs:

2.4 ghz core 2 duo

3 gb ram

8600m GT 256 mb

running on vista with 1280x800 res and everything set on low.

Also i have fiber internet.. meaning 10mbit up and down (faster than cable).

I dont get why my fps is so low and it ranges. One second its 200 fps and the next its so choppy i can't move.

OK i have same problem and i can't fix but maybe this will help You.

1. Try to Defragment the game. GO to Steam right click on CSS and chose Properties, then find Defragmentation and do it.

2. Also try to Verify Game Cache files.( SHould be near the Defragmentation)

4. Do what other guy said on top.Update Video Card.

5. Well if you completely stuck.There is another thing u can do.But its dangerous if u change wrong thing.This is for people who are advanced and know what they are doing.



click on bottom right corner of screen below all programs type "regedit" then press ok.

Now click on the triangle left of HKEY local machine thing.

Now click on triangle left of Software

Now click on triangle left of Microsoft NT

Now click on triangle left of Current Vision

Now click on triangle left of Multimedia

Now you should see System Profile and only that.Click on IT not triangle.

you should see 3 things Default, Network Throtting and System Responsiveness.

right click on Network Throtting and click on Modify.Make sure its Only that.Now your Hexadecimal should only be on "a"...change that to "ffffffff" 8 f's without " of course.

Restart your computer and then try play CSS.

NOW I REPEAT THIS STEP IS FOR PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.IF YOU DON'T TRUST ME ASK SOMEONE WHO DOES LIKE COMPUTER PROGRAMMER OR WHATEVER.

I know this because a Computer Engineerer told me.I still have problems with FPS on CSS but all that is worth a try.
