Question:

Why does my DVD keep switching over to Scart 2 instead of 1?

When I watch a DVD I put the TV on the correct channel then every ten mins or so, the TV switches back to Scart 2 instead of 1 - the DVD carries on playing but I just can't view it, so I have to change it back on the remote, only to have the same thing happen again - it's most annoying, but doesn't do it every time. What can be causing it?

  1. Re tune your TV with only your DVD player pluged into scart 1. on play.

  2. Rich B is bang on right with his advice.

Remove whatever is connected to SCART 2 and see if the fault persists.

If it is still present then your tv is faulty.

If it ceases then then make sure that "auto switching" (it may be called something else) is not enabled for the SCART 2 input on the tv. You will need to consult the instruction manual and tv set-up menu to do this.

When you have disabled the auto-switching then plug the SCART 2 device back in and happily manual change.

Tuning the tv will not do anything about the SCARTs. They are selectable on the remote but are inputs which have nothing to do with the tv tuner.

  3. What is actually plugged into Scart 2? Whatever it is, it could be sending an intermittent switching signal on pin 8. Try unplugging it and see if it makes a difference.

If it happens even when Scart 2 has nothing plugged into it, then it must be a fault with the TV.
