Why does my DVD player only play audio through the left channel?

I just got myself a TV and DVD player just recently and while the TV audio plays out of both the left and right channels the DVD player only plays out of the left. I thought DVD's would play in stereo right off the bat.

It looks like I need a cable in order for the right channel to play audio through the DVD but I did not think this was necessary as there were no additional cables included for this.

  1. From your description, it does look like you need to buy stereo cables. try reading the manual and make sure that you got the right cables. they should be pretty cheap.

  2. You need a 3-wire cable, 2 wires are used for R and L audio, one for video....

Yellow Red and White is used for RCA Composite signals....

Component output requires 5 total for Audio and Video signals.  Red Green Blue for picture,  Red and White for sound.

  3. Sounds like a bad cable... be sure the red and white are pushed in all the way if you're using that type of cable
