Why does my Ionic Breeze spark? Is it dangerous?

We have an Ionic Breeze Quadra that's about four years old. The other day I was laying on the couch and I saw sparks come off of it? We clean the filter often and have no other problems. My husband thinks that it started doing that because the dog has knocked it over a couple of times. Any thoughts?

Sparking from an Ionic Breeze may or may not be a problem.  If it is an electrical connection spark, that would be a bad thing.  If it is dust hitting the elements, that would probably be just normal operation.  The problem is the ozone that the device is designed to generate.  You should check out some of the references on the web related to these devices and think about whether or not you want to keep using it at all.

This is normal. If the unit grabs a large piece of dust it will spark.
