I have a number of tracks that I have transferred from my CD collection which when copied to my Ipod Classic are broken and distorted. Some tracks are ok. Anyone know why?

  1. cds musta been scratched

  2. This could be do to a damaged or scratched CD.  Try ripping the track in a higher quality setting to see if it corrects to issue.  It may also be a simple issue of cleaning the CD first.  An alternative is to have an iPod loading company handle it for you.  I would make sure they are professional, though.  A couple of great companies are LoadProng.com and iPlayServices.com.  iPlay has lower rates and great service, IMO.  Hope this helps.

  3. you need to use error correction when importing older CD's which removes the scratches and other effects from the import - its slower but safer.

also check that you are using the correct bit rate (in prefs) either AAC, MP3 or Apple Lossless at high quality.

if you encode at low quality the sound will sound distorted.

  4. Thats wierd and it shouldnt happen is all i can tell you

  5. Open your itunes and plug in your ipod. Put the cd in and type in the tack names (or if you are connected to the internet it should be done automatically). Then click import. When the cd is imported click an drag the songs to your ipod. If you don't want to import a certain song, uncheck it before you click import. If you are already doing that then I have no idea whats wrong.
