Why does my MAC laptop struggle so much with online games?

it gets really hot, shoots lots of warm air out of the back and makes a noise like it's working really hard to cope! sometimes also shuts the internet of if I'm playing a game to long. - anything i can do?

You should really send it in for cleaning (the air vents are probably full of dust).

games that use shockwave and are 3d make my computer moan a bit sometimes...

What kind do you have?

A MacBook? or MacBook Pro?

The MacBook has a terrible, irreplaceable graphics card, so you can get away with playing games, but they usually lag and the computer gets all hot.  The Pro shouldn't have a problem like this.

I would definately get a cooling pad for it. Don't let it sit flat because it needs air circulation at the bottom. If your laptop doesn't get enough air to keep it cool, it does have to work harder and will last half as long. You might try installing more RAM as well.
