Why does my PS3 play region 0 DVDs in black white?

Just bought a region 0 DVD and, though it works fine on other players, it only plays in black & white on my Playstation 3. Why is this? And what can I do to mae it play properly?

It really means that the disc reader is different. (I know because in my school we have a seperate dvd player so we can watch German versions of movies because the region code is different.) Your Ps3 is not a full DVD player, it is more built for Blu-Ray. Blu-Ray is just backwards compatible for US DVD regions. Your lucky you get a picture at all. This is just a hunch, but maybe the HDMI cable does not support the picture being transmitted?
