  1. If it is a CRT set, there is probably residual high-voltage still in the tv, and dust and other things will cause a brief static discharge.

  2. Hi,

Its just the plastic casing at the back getting colled down, its actually shrinking. This is mostly the case with CRT tv's even projection CRT tv's because there's so much palstic casing around unlike LCD, DLP, or plasma. You'll notice that if you do not watch the tv on a day there will be no cracking sounds since there's nothing to cool down. Have you also noticed this with your vehicle, if you own one or someone elses, when you trun the engine off, the metal casing cools down and it makes cracking and tapping sounds.

    Hope this helps!

  3. Hard to say, my old CRT tv does that too.....

Its either the casing is a tight fit and it due to temperature changes, or somesort of surge protection, power conditioning inside and there is something electrical at night....like low load and high reserve power that causes it.

Hard to say....but the lcds\plasmas dont do it...

My tv is an old Panasonic 25 inch from 93 in my bedroom.
