Why does my Tecumseh motor leak gas out of carb with no air filter ?

its a go kart engine i just bought it and has no air filter and leaks gas out of carb

You will have better luck if you get a rebuild kit for the carburetor.  It has all the parts and gaskets you will need.  Make sure that the carburetor is clean and also the fuel tank.

sounds to me like the float and needle vavle are stuck in the open position.you need to take the carb off and clean the float and needle vavle.

Most often it is a bad needle & seat set in the carb. After you empty the fuel from the tank or shut off the flow to the carb, remove the bowl nut and bowl. Note orientation of bowl. Pull the silver pin to remove the float and needle. Shake the float, if you hear fluid in it, replace it. Check the seat area for foreign material with a mirror. If you see no obvious foreign matter, replace the seat. Blow the seat out using compressed air through the fuel inlet or try to hook it out. Replace using the back of a drill bit. The side of the seat with the ring goes in first. Good luck
