Why does my Tom Tom turn itself off after a few mins when i try to charge it in the car?

If there is not much batter power left in my tom tom whilst driving i plug it into the car charger, but after a min, sometimes quicker or longer it will turn itself off and i cant turn it on.

Does anyone know whats wrong with it?

This happened to my tomtom..my charger cord had a broken wire! this may not be the case for you though!

Well it could be that the charger is in the wrong outlet, not giving your GPS any power, so the power slowly dies, and the GPS dies which is decided by how much power is left. Try different outlets, if you have any, or try it in your friend's car.

Have you set the TT up to power down when external power is lost? That can do this if the charger is a less than perfect fit in the socket.

Or else the charger is defective
