  1. There are a few reasons that A/C's freeze up. If the compressor runs continuously the coils will freeze up. So it needs to cycle on and off. If it is too small for the room the compressor will run on and on. If the coils or filter are dirty, the air flow will be impeded, so it will run on and on. If it can't keep up with the warm temperature, it will run on and on. If it has developed a freon leak it will run on and on. The solution? Make sure the coils and filter are clean. Make sure it is not too small for the room. Turn up the thermostat to 74-76 degrees. This is really cool enough to sleep and will also save you some money. If it has always worked ok until now and the filter and coils are clean it is probably low on freon. If that is the case it would probably be cheaper to replace it than have it serviced. If you do buy a new one, get one that is larger than the one you have now if you want to keep the room that cool.

  2. low refrigerant or low airflow have you changed the filters lately if you have then call the service tech nothing more you can do

  3. Either it is low on freon or the coils are dirty and need cleaned.

  4. Why are you turning it off for three days?Just turn your cool off and run your fan by itself for an hour and the ice will melt. When you put it back to cool and the fan to auto, it will start cooling again.

It either freezes because an airflow problem or a refrigerant shortage.Check for a dirty filter or a nasty dirty coil.

If it still freezes after correcting those problems, it is low on refrigerant.
