Why does my amp keeping turning on and off?

it will cut on and off periodicly throughout my drive i had changed all the wiring l because i thought it had a short but it still does this,

  1. if it had a short, a fuse would had blown.

    first, check the settings on the amp. never have any setting on MAX and never have the Gain/Level on 3/4 high. this will give your subs a very distorted signal and will kill the subs. also, this will throw the amp into thermal/protect.

    also, check the wiring on your subwoofers to determine the final ohm load.

    once you have that info, check if your amplifier is stable under that final ohm load and if your subs can handle the rms watts it throws.

    by the way, if you have the subwoofers wired into the amp as bridged, that might be your problem. because most amps only handle 4 ohms bridge. and usually every one is not running 4 ohms bridged. this will also cause the amp to go into protect/thermal for a short amount of time, then it goes back to normal.
