Hi, i have a 7 month old girl and ever since she was newborn, my baby immediately stops crying and sometimes even falls asleep everytime i run my vaccuum. Why is this? I know a vaacuum is supposed to be one of those "white noises" but is there another reason why? I'm just curious.

  1. vacuums also send out tiny vibrations. a baby will especially pick them up because they're ultra sensitive.

  2. Its soothing, things sounded different to her when she was in your belly and the vacuum reminds her of it.

Running water in the bath or sitting her in her car seat on the dryer might do the same thing.

  3. i think its supposed to be similar to what they hear in the womb. when my girl was younger, she is 12mos now, it used to be the hair dryer. it nothing would settle her when she was tired, last resort was the hair dryer and it never failed.

    Nichola x*x

  4. i think ive heard before it kind of resembles the sound of your blood whooshing through your veins. my daughter has always just been fascinated by the vacuum

  5. Probably not, it probably just is the white noise. The sound of the vaccuum probably startles her enough to jolt her out of her fit and then eventually soothes her to sleep. You're lucky, my 11 month old daughter is terrified of the vac!!

  6. White noise is soothing and reminds them of when they're in the womb and everything is muffled. (Doctors recommend this for babies with colic and TRUST ME, IT WORKS!!!)  I went through a vaccum and a clock radio for the 3 month duration of colic! LOL

  7. its a very soothing sound to them

  8. Nope that's the reason, it was loud and constant noise in your belly.

It's funny, if the t.v. is on or even if the air conditioner is on when Brody falls asleep...then I cant turn it off...or else he wakes right up.
